we are home!!!


wednesday: this was around 4 am. i woke up around 2:30 with contractions and started to time them. they were around 7 - 8 minutes apart. i kept wondering at what point i should wake john up and clue him into the fact that we were going to have a baby that day. he rolled over around 3:30 and got a look at the clock. so, i asked if he was awake and calmly informed him that i was in labor. he sat straight up.... "really, are you serious? what do we do now?" since there is really nothing to do at that moment... he got in the shower and i labored on. then i showered while he made me some oatmeal. this picture was post-shower, in between contractions (obviously). we called our friends the galts around 6:00 am to come and get micah for the day as labor was getting more intense.



at some point my contractions slowed down, so i started walking around the apartment....that really helped get them going. by 8 am the contractions were between 4 - 6 minutes apart but were REALLY intense...i think that i when i blogged. i decided shortly after posting that i was ready for my epidural..... john called for some car services to take us to the hospital. they all had a wait of about an hour.....i decided we needed to walk. we walked to the hospital.... i know, i can't believe it either. i laughed at myself the whole way thinking about what i must look like to other people; i had about 8 contractions between our house and the hosptial. we got to there shortly after 9am...went to triage and proceeded to start pushing because little boy sweet was just about ready to make his appearance. he was born at 9:48am. we were not even checked into the hospital. thankfully, we were in a real delivery room. my midwives were amazing!!! john was a fabulous coach and encourager. it was really hard but then i was over. i did have moments when i didn't know if i could do it, but i did. god was kind & gracious! here is the little boy.... and we will be out numbered....

as of monday, i am through my first trimester with sweet baby #3. the sweet children will out number the adults come the beginning of march. as john likes to comment about my day to day coping skills, "her body is betraying her" as i adjust to pregnancy and surviving with two small children. i still can't find our flash drive to upload pictures....i'll work on it. it requires clearing off the computer desk which exists in the middle of the living room due to the plaster/drywall work being done to patch up the hole from the toilet leak. supposedly the new hardwood floors are supposed to arrive this week.....which means we could potentially move out of the office and back into our bedroom in a couple of weeks!!! the small pleasures in life!

more tidbits

i find it interesting....... .......how the two boys are in sync already. apparently we had not weathered the worst of operation big boy-no paci....he cried for almost an hour. what we thought would be an early bedtime was not....then asher (who was supposed to sleep until 2) woke up at midnight only to be followed by big brother 10 minutes later "scared." .......how 20 & 30 years olds (including myself) walk around the locker room delicately covered up by the towel that is slightly too small to cover my rumpus..... and yet the 50 & 60 years old strut around with no shame. nora ephron claims that the things that we things we hate about out bodies in our 20s will be the things we long for in our 50s. funny how that works...maybe i'll lose my abandon and sit in the sauna naked as a jaybird..... naw!!! .......how fun sitting on the kitchen counter while daddy cooks is for a two year old. .......how much i want to cut my hair. .......how excited i am to have gott...
