soccer pics with a borrowed camera

Image
we borrowed a friend's camera.... the super-duper high tech, telephoto lens, etc.  it was super fun to play with! here is little bit, who despite being resistant to getting dressed for his games, looks like he had a ton of fun once he got out on the field.  and peanut who was part of a great team and played really well. he was getting stronger and faster each game! it looks like real soccer at this age!

fall means soccer

Image
So here are some moments on (and off) the soccer field: little bit is quick footed... but at his age they still resemble a bee hive buzzing around the field :) (love his expression) here are two sisters of soccer players. they make great cheerleaders! peanut is growing as a player. he likes playing mid-fielder and is getting more aggressive for the ball. he has a great team of boys that work well together. and might i say, peanut has a great coach (a bit silly, but that is WAY better than a yeller!) more soccer sisters just waiting for next year to show their stuff!! great throw-in, peanut!! and that is what we do on saturdays!

happy halloween

Image
(by the way those are two ninjas and one rapunzel) the day was full, full, full. each boy had a party in his classroom - which sweet pea and i attended both.  then had a parade at school. than trick-or-treating.... that ended in rain.  phew.  and now the battle over candy.  yipee!!!

soccer

well soccer season is under way.  an opening day and two games and we are in full swing.  opening day consists of kids in the back of pick-ups riding down main street (we don't actually have a main street but it might as well be called that).  it is a lot of whoop-la. i had a bad attitude. apparently it is enjoyed by many.... but not this mom. go rockets!!! go comets!!! little bit was dyno-mite on the feild. he got out there and tore it up.  can't say that there is any resemblance to the kid that played last year.  i am not sure where he went but  apparently he was replaced by a soccer player!! and here is peanut in the goal.  more pics of him to come!!   happy fall.

exploring the city

Image
we went into the mission district for a sabbath outing.  we played on a playground, kicked the soccer ball, saw a tightrope walker, ate vietnamese food, had great company, and saw a naked man (peanut asked if it was because he was poor....nope, just san francisco)..... all in a day's adventure out of marin.

our very first MLB game

Image
i have to admit.... i didn't think it would be the oakland a's. but the kids had a ball!!! peanut was upset when we left for an inning to go buy hats!  and it was a crazy game.... 22 runs. it will be a shame when they go to another game and there aren't as many hits! showing off our new hats!!!

welcome to the great outdoors, my dear children

Image
camping at camp fresno. no....not in fresno... thank you, dear lord. not tent camping....but not much higher up on the luxury spectrum. kids welcome to the sierras. dinky creek....not so dinky. smores. redwoods. creek swimming. fishing. climbing. hiking. family. and lots and lots of dirt.  what a great week! i might just need a whole year to gear up for it again!

baseball

Image
it is where we have spent almost every saturday. what is great is that there are three kids in peanut's class.... all the other kids go to his actual school or live on our street.  we actually feel like we are getting to know people.  and frankly, his uniform is just super cute! and his brother, while not playing himself, gets all decked out in his own version of a uniform..... which includes a jeter jersey.  we are merely tolerated but since californians are actually lame sports fans, we get by.

spring break

Image
hiking to turtle rock with daddy. sonoma to train town and olive oil tasting. sausalito for the bay discovery museum.     point reyes for whale watching and elephant seal sightings.  so cool!!! i've been whale watching before but have never actually seen a whale....we saw at least five (or perhaps it was one whale that we saw five times). and lots of movies in jammies for rainy days in between.

summer playground fun

Image
we have hit the public pools, the beach, and the playgrounds.... all in our first full week of summer. we also had our first experience at day camp.... we opted for the sports camp variety. the boys loved it.... and sweet pea conned the director out of her own camp shirt. very cute!!!

a wild june so far....

Image
j ust to clarify.... we are not out of school yet. but we have had pre-k graduation..... little bit got to be the engine on the train to the stage. it was the only way his teachers could get him to participate. sigh......such the individual.... and kindergarten "stepping up".... peanut got the writing award and made the honor roll for his class. and of course, sweet pea just gets to join in all the fun failing to realize that it is NOT about her (smile, wink)......
