a life beyond running shoes.

i have not hid my love for YA (young adult) literature. in fact, i am re-reading all the harry potter books before the last and final movie comes out this summer. and i really did read all the twilight books. (i don't claim that i always read good books, wink, wink). but i loved the hunger games . and of course, the movie is being made. it is all over the blogisphere. and here is the cool part: brooke, who is a babysitter for a kid at the boys' school, just got cast. here is the post from one of the fan websites. (perhaps, i have seen this blog before... cough, cough). brooke is going to be octavia. (small but really cool part) i think i was the only mom on the schoolyard the literally yelped when she was talking about her audition..... then i really did scream when she said she got the part. perhaps it is because i was the only one that knew what she was auditioning for and HOW S TINKIN' COOL IT IS!!! and i just hang with her on the park bench while the kids ru...

spiderman on broadway. it was fabulous.... and it doesn't hurt that i have a little bit of a crush on the lead. peter parker played by reeve carney. friend, steve, came from LA to do the east coast thing. he hit some football games, some hockey games, but i got to tag along for this. it was awesome!!! we hung out after and said hi. steve knows reeve.....a little. reeve is a little dreamy. okay, the show is excellent. the music by bono & the edge.....rocks. sitting next to some guys, i realized my first major concert was U2..... fall 1992 dodger stadium....zoo tv tour. choreography was stellar. there were a few weird things about the spider (arachne) mythology.... okay, really weird... on the verge of creepy....but i still loved it!

something fun about living in new york is seeing people from all walks of life: television, theater, politics.....all i really care about is the tv or music people. last week after mamma mia! we saw allison janney formally from the west wing now from the broadway production of 9 to 5 (which i saw and found totally entertaining). then at the farmer's market yesterday we saw carla from bravo's top chef . that was fun since we all knew who she was and her "crew" that she was with were enamored with sweet pea. they all treid to convince me that she did not look like a boy even though she was dressed in blue. awhile ago, i saw lee anne from bravo's project runway .... she was the winner. i saw her at the brooklyn botanic gardens. hubbie thinks he saw keri russell today at a local park slope coffee shop (but of course, he wasn't sure since he was not a huge felicity fan).

you should never ask him if he is having trouble getting it up.....even if you are referring to his kite....even if it is in the park on a windy day. he might just respond saying, "no luck at all, but that is rather personal." i think it was david cross from arrested development ....not sure, but it looked & sounded like him.

there is a definite protocol here in the big apple....look but don't touch. around the corner from our house is a patisserie....yummy chocolate croissant - thus the impetus for venture out this morning. in the store was joey slotnick....the guy to the right. he has been seen on nip/tuck , boston public , the single guy , etc. he was getting coffee - very exciting. of course, he is not an a-list star; therefore, it is quite explainable why no one but me was oogliing....but i think that is part of the new york culture. no one bothers jennifer connelly who is said to live in our neighborhood....john has apparently seen her twice, but since i have not....i'm not sure i believe him. i still get a kick out of seeing famous people.... well, at the least ones i know are famous.

he is gorgeous & australian! he is tlc's take home chef. we saw him as we were getting off the plane wednesday night. he was waiting for his flight..... john even recognized him without me pointing him out.... my family watches cooking shows with me. micah even knows who rachel ray is by sight. is that bad?!

john can claim to have seen a number of celebrities in our neck of the woods, including jennifer connelly about three times. i have yet to sight a single one....until today. coming up the street with his son, both walking their bikes, was john turturro . yup, my first celebrity sighting in two and a half years of living here. finally. for those of you who are not clear who he is..... think, o brother where art thou ? mr. deeds , s ecret window , and most recently the good shepherd . he is a park slope local. i thought it was cool. in other news, i walked outside yesterday where the snow was melting and had this thought, "it feels like spring." it was 45 degrees. it that warped or what?! and we had asher's two month check-up. he is 10 pounds 10 ounces... that is almost a two pound weight gain since his one month check-up. of course we also got his first round of vaccinations - which suck....but he is doing great!
