because one more is all i need.....

for those of you that actually read my blog, you may have picked up on the fact that i really like blogging. it is therapy, connectedness, and silly. not only do i like my own blog - because i make myself laugh - but i enjoy others as well. of course, i have my favorites that i check everyday and a few that i check every so often. in last months runner's world, i found yet another blog that i checked for the first time today..... mile markers. it is kristin armstrong's blog. she has become a contributor for runner's world and interviewed lance after the new york marathon. i find her extremely refreshing and likable....i really admired her interview with oprah....not that i would ever confess to watching oprah like a normal, typical "works without wages" stay-at-home mom....or anything. but anyway..... in the march runner's world her article entitled "speed queens" was refreshing & reminded me of what i love about running. she says, " there's a closeness about people who run together. we become better friends, better athletes, and better women by the company we keep. as our mileage logs grow, so does our ability to speak the truth to each other, not hesitating when someone is limbo-ing her potential rather than pole-vaulting it.... with no makeup, no status, and no B.S. allowed, running purifies friendships." while this is very much a tribute to how much i miss running with stef....it is also about the connection between life & the image of running. we all need friends that run this race with us....that can make us (me) better friends, women, mothers, sisters, warriors; the people that see us for who we really are. it makes me appreciate the women that have logged many, many miles with me and speak truth to me..... for that i am a better me.

The race definitely purifies us, sweating out the sin and sloughing off the flesh. --From a total non-runner

HOW much do I love the blogsphere! I love Amy's response! (she needs to get a blog herself!) I think of how longevity in friendships is a blessing because people can preach truth to us as we grow together...get older and really just cut the BS. LOVE IT! xooxo
