this is NOT how we felt!

this family looks cute & content..... we looked haggard, spent, exhausted, and worn. it was a long day. while getting home last week via weather & plane delays was an opportunity to look on the bright side....i missed this opportunity because it took all of my prayer strength to simply maintain composure.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 17TH
8:00 am movers expected...... 9:45 movers arrived.
10:30 am i arrive at new apartment to get keys & figure out the lay of the land for the movers who are finishing the first load and heading over in approximately 20 minutes.
i am greeted by the super whose first response is, "didn't anyone call you?"

that would be a negative. he proceeds to get the building manager to take me up to our new apartment. i walk in to find a full work crew painting, hammering, grouting what is supposed to be our finished apartment.
the manager says, "i don't think you will be able to move in today."
FUNNY!!! HA, HA, HA!
he wasn't joking but it would have been a funny joke.
i inform him that i have a 2 yr old and an 8 month old whose beds are dismantled and in a moving truck on its way over here..... what would HE suggest i do.
he calls the owner.

QUESTION: HOW MANY TIMES CAN A BUCK BE PASSED BEFORE SOMEONE CLAIMS TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON?!
ANSWER: CLOSE TO A MILLION.

the owner says, "go ahead and move in."
FUNNY! HA, HA, HA!
where?

here is the situation:
base boards being painted, not a single closet door attached because they are still being painted (there are 7 closets - 14 doors), kitchen appliances are in the living room, tile in both bathrooms have not been grouted, bathroom vanities are not installed, there is no shower door in the master bath, there is no kitchen sink, there are holes in the walls where there will be air conditioners, no blinds, and the entire apartment has paper taped down covering the floor as to avoid damaging them.
BUT, WE CAN MOVE IN!

so, we did....at least into the living room that is. all of our stuff was piled in to the foyer & living room.
12:00 first load moved in
2:00 baby asleep in friend's apartment - toddler did not sleep.
3:00 second load moved in
5:45 head over to new apartment for dinner.... workers still there
6:00 back over to friend's apartment for dinner
7:30 head to new apartment - workers gone
8:30 boys in bed
8:45 boys asleep
12:15 we are in bed

the bathrooms were finished (minus the shower door) the kitchen was not. (it was finished on saturday).

as of monday morning we have most rooms mostly done, only about 10 boxes left, no pictures on the walls, no curtains up, but my china hutch is filled.
when i find my camera cord, i can put up real pictures of our house & our boxes.

Been waiting for this post! Glad to see that you're at least in and starting to settle. Can u believe in the 13 years that Robert and I have been married, we've moved nine times! The last time we moved, I was in Italy and managed to get out of the actual moving process. I don't think I'll be so lucky this next time!
