opposite ends of the spectrum

on one hand you have a classic.
and i have to admit that i have never read.

on the other hand, you have contemporary chick lit that no one will be reading in five years.
conclusion: both have merit.

little house was delightful, simple, and sweet.
i loved how yummy cornbread was and how adoring laura was to her father. i loved how hard they worked as a family for food, shelter, friends. amazing. i loved reading about the "wild west." how loved how much charles ingalls had integrity. i remember growing up with the show and reading it makes it so much richer. i can't wait to keep reading the rest of the series.... it is my summer project. because they are so quick and fast though, i hate counting each book as an independent book when i go to tally how many books i read this year... huh? thoughts?

confessions: someone said that this book was like a commercial break. i have to admit that after the couple of months that we have had this was a bit refreshing and just borderline annoying. her consumerism was slightly nauseating and annoying but just when i was about to throw the book away (whoops - its from the library; can't do that), it redeemed itself. it will most likely make a delightful movie that i would never admit to my husband that i watched when he was out of town.... and i am curious to see how they "americanize" the british novel. totally brain candy for sure.... but i enjoyed the quick read.

happy reading!

Oh, how I love the Little House series. When I was in fourth grade, my teacher read the whole series to us. I still remember sitting in my seat with my eyes closed, picturing everything as she read. I went home and told my parents I wanted to live in a dirt house (as it turns out, my mother had for several years as my grandfather built their house!).

I can't believe you never read Little House on the Prairie, either! Isn't that where "Marmie" came from? I guess you didn't need to read the book to pick up on "Marmie" if you saw the shows, though. I never saw the show.

You're right, K. I mixed the books up. "Marmie" did come from "Little Women." I can't believe you haven't read that either! :)

Having read both these...youre dead on. Shopaholic is just an indulgence...and yes, the main character is ANNOYING. Still a funny light entertaining read!

Little house is just the best. My favorite growing up was On the Banks Of Plum Creek, but as an adult I was amazed by The Long Winter with the amount of fortitude the Ingalls and most pioneers had. You will enjoy it this summer! xo
