a few finishes

two down.....only one to go.
on both series i have been working through:

little house.
finished little town on the prairie and these happy golden years.
i have to admit that i actually stayed up late to finish the courting relationship between laura and almanzo. it wasn't like i didn't know they were getting married at the end but i was still engrossed enough to sacrifice sleep to finish. it was such a sweet story. almanzo riding every friday night to pick up laura from her first teaching job that was 12 miles away. i was fascinated by laura's capacity for memorization and humiliated in my own lack of such a skill. if i were not in the middle of two other books, i would be picking up the final book this weekend. i will be sad when the story ends.

dragon tattoo series.
the girl who played with fire.
engaging. heavy. dark. mysterious. psycho killer-thriller sort of thing.
again....stayed up late one night to finish....in a totally different kind of engaged way. i had to find out all the mysteries playing into the story; the links to the first book; what it sets up for the next book. i still have some things that i am bit confused about..... and i thought the first quarter of the book was really random in relation to the other part.... but i was captured. it is a bit on the dark side for me, in all honesty....but makes for a good read.

did I tell you I hated the first 4 years? it's so depressing. i wish i hadn't read it....but I guess it was realistic.

I found a Little House series for little kids at the library this week for Rebekah. She refuses to read the original books so i've left the other one laying around for her to pick up on her own terms. I've also been thinking of starting the dragon tattoo series so thanks for the recommendation.
