trouble in paradise

could it be possible that alien life forms have taken my child and replaced him with a pod-person? of course not right, but boy does it feel that way sometimes....especially during a cycle of real discipline issues. as he wakes from the gentle slumber of lullabies and blankies, i hear the gentle voice of my toddler say, "NO." now, who is he talking to and why is that his first word when waking? what in the world?! i mean really. i am really being challenged as a mom in my willingness to be consistent for his sake (and my own sanity) is disciplining him. what is acceptable and what is not is the name of the game right now. if i fail to be consistent it comes back ten fold. like turning on the tv. he is allowed when given permission but this week he has really tested that privilege....or when refusing to get into the stroller - arched back, locked legs. how can 23 pounds be so difficult to manage....is he really stronger than me and i didn't realize it? oh brother!

on a lighter note: dinner. i made "tuna sauce with tomato and garlic" (page 180) last night and it was very tasty. i used canned tuna (with oil as it is more tender) and was pleasantly surprised. as i started the preparation of it - the sound of tuna & tomatoes was turning my pregnant stomach... to my delight, i enjoyed the meal as did the entire family! yeah page 180! easy & cheap.

ah....discipline...tis the name of the game. Yes, it is hard , especially when you want to deal with heart issues. Im sure you are doing beautifully sweet friend!! One of the best peices of advice Dear Michelle Bachman gave me when Kaitlin was born was in response to when I told her, "im so afraid I will mess her up" She replied, " You will offend your daughter, she will be hurt and she WILL need counseling. The sooner you get that into your head the better it is for everyone. We are sinful people." Food for thought! Miss and love you from the land of sunshine! xoox P

and we will be out numbered....

as of monday, i am through my first trimester with sweet baby #3. the sweet children will out number the adults come the beginning of march. as john likes to comment about my day to day coping skills, "her body is betraying her" as i adjust to pregnancy and surviving with two small children. i still can't find our flash drive to upload pictures....i'll work on it. it requires clearing off the computer desk which exists in the middle of the living room due to the plaster/drywall work being done to patch up the hole from the toilet leak. supposedly the new hardwood floors are supposed to arrive this week.....which means we could potentially move out of the office and back into our bedroom in a couple of weeks!!! the small pleasures in life!

more tidbits

i find it interesting....... .......how the two boys are in sync already. apparently we had not weathered the worst of operation big boy-no paci....he cried for almost an hour. what we thought would be an early bedtime was not....then asher (who was supposed to sleep until 2) woke up at midnight only to be followed by big brother 10 minutes later "scared." .......how 20 & 30 years olds (including myself) walk around the locker room delicately covered up by the towel that is slightly too small to cover my rumpus..... and yet the 50 & 60 years old strut around with no shame. nora ephron claims that the things that we things we hate about out bodies in our 20s will be the things we long for in our 50s. funny how that works...maybe i'll lose my abandon and sit in the sauna naked as a jaybird..... naw!!! .......how fun sitting on the kitchen counter while daddy cooks is for a two year old. .......how much i want to cut my hair. .......how excited i am to have gott...
