a hymn for my soul

to sing his praises.....
praying words would penetrate my heart....
remind me of truths....
and delight in god's love for me...

glorious things of thee are spoken
zion, city of our god;
he, whose word cannot be broken,
formed thee for his own abode
on the rock of ages founded
what can shake thy sure repose?
with salvation's walls surrounded,
thou mayst smile at all thy foes.

see the streams of living waters,
springing from eternal love.
well supplies thy sons and daughters,
and all fears of want removes.
what can faint while such a river
ever flows their thirst to quench?
grace which like the lord, the giver,
never fails from age to age.

savior, if of zion's city,
i, through grace, a member am,
let the world deride or pity,
i will glory in thy name
fading is the worlding's pleasure,
all is boasted pomp and show
solid joys and lasting treasures
none but zion's children know.

amazing to think we still sing words so rich and true over 200 hundred years later.... may they still be true of me fifty years from now.

the gospel according to my neighbor shirley:
"god always brings the manna. he just sometimes waits until the very last minute."

lord, please sell our house sooner than that.

the last minute makes me really nervous.

THAT is a great quote (from Shirley)! I'm going to use it often. He has definitely brought the manna for us here in Boston. We both feel it's been an amazingly soft landing. We think we've found a church here - an anglican church under the Rwandan bishop - and it turns out the pastor is a cousin-in-law of the pastor of Kevin's parents' church, whom we love. Amazing grace for us! :)

Love you and miss you, Kathy. Thanks for the peak inside the vacation. Can't wait to see you guys before you move. Praying about the house, too.
