happy new year


micah got his first hair cut today.... he looks like such a big boy. i think part of what prompted it was john trying to figure out what to do with a whiny, sick toddler who was almost inconsolable all day. apparently, the little guy is not content to just sit and watch football all day. doesn't he care at all about auburn v. nebraska or at least throw some love to the usc v. michigan game.... but no - he wants to go outside, play with his cars, or ride his scooter all under the watchful eye of one parent or another. this does not lend itself to a super relaxing new year's day especially since it is raining and we can't just send him out to the backyard to play. the other challenge was our insatiable need to make chocolate chip cookies, yet micah also wants one, then another, then another. the whining continued.

in other news, i finished our 2006 photo book. one of the great things about a mac. drag & drop the pictures into a photo book and then email it away and 10 days later it comes in the mail all nicely bound. i love our 2005 one and am thrilled to be finished with this past years. it is fun to look back over the year and reflect on how much has happened & how much we have been able to do. we truly have been blessed in amazing ways...from the trips we took, to the friends that came to visit, to the ways that god has grown us..... and grown our little family. i can look back over the year and see how much i had to adjust to the ways that god was working....let go of my agenda and be thankful to be part of HIS plan. what a gracious god i have to allow me to be a part of what he is accomplishing. it is cool! and we have a new baby in the process.

and we will be out numbered....

as of monday, i am through my first trimester with sweet baby #3. the sweet children will out number the adults come the beginning of march. as john likes to comment about my day to day coping skills, "her body is betraying her" as i adjust to pregnancy and surviving with two small children. i still can't find our flash drive to upload pictures....i'll work on it. it requires clearing off the computer desk which exists in the middle of the living room due to the plaster/drywall work being done to patch up the hole from the toilet leak. supposedly the new hardwood floors are supposed to arrive this week.....which means we could potentially move out of the office and back into our bedroom in a couple of weeks!!! the small pleasures in life!

more tidbits

i find it interesting....... .......how the two boys are in sync already. apparently we had not weathered the worst of operation big boy-no paci....he cried for almost an hour. what we thought would be an early bedtime was not....then asher (who was supposed to sleep until 2) woke up at midnight only to be followed by big brother 10 minutes later "scared." .......how 20 & 30 years olds (including myself) walk around the locker room delicately covered up by the towel that is slightly too small to cover my rumpus..... and yet the 50 & 60 years old strut around with no shame. nora ephron claims that the things that we things we hate about out bodies in our 20s will be the things we long for in our 50s. funny how that works...maybe i'll lose my abandon and sit in the sauna naked as a jaybird..... naw!!! .......how fun sitting on the kitchen counter while daddy cooks is for a two year old. .......how much i want to cut my hair. .......how excited i am to have gott...
